How a Havas merger sparked true love.

"Their relationship took a good three months to unfold, but it was worth the wait."

On June 7, 2016, TP1 and Havas Montréal were forever transformed. With the merging of the two agencies came a wave of change, fresh faces, new friendships—and even love.

Thiago Diezel started working as a front-end developer at TP1 in March 2015, and Léa Jeanmougin was hired as a copywriter for Havas Montréal in May 2015. The pair got to know each other, as their peers did, when the companies united one year later. What began with random lunchtime talk evolved into a happy relationship and a baby boy on the way.

The spark

Thiago was the first to develop a crush on Léa as a result of their lunch chats. They quickly discovered a shared love of music. Thiago’s enthusiasm stemmed from São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, his native town, and Léa’s passion came from dance, which she began to learn as a teenager back home in Marseille, France.

At the time, their interactions remained friendly—until Valentine’s Day 2017. Havas Montréal had organized a card exchange between employees to celebrate. Each employee who participated picked a name out of a hat and gave that person a personalized card. Thiago managed to exchange names with a colleague, so he could write Léa a letter. A classic romantic, he wrote a poem about her eyes and mustered up the courage to give it to her.

A few months later, the pair could finally explore their mutual interests, values, and beliefs. Their relationship took a good three months to unfold, but it was worth the wait.

A beautiful surprise

Léa learned that she was pregnant in mid-August. It was half surprise, half expected: they had already talked about having a baby, and were ready to welcome one into the world, but didn’t think it would happen so quickly. The moment they realized they were ready, Léa was already pregnant.

Thiago and Léa’s beautiful baby boy is due in April. They plan to teach their son three languages: French, Portuguese, and English. Their favorite reaction when they told the office? Havas Montréal CEO and TP1 founder, Jan-Nicolas Vanderveken stood up, teary-eyed, to hug Thiago.
