A redesigned Havas University experience gives every Havas employee more opportunities to grow.

Back to school season continues in full swing with the launch of a new Havas University experience. The newly redesigned learning platform overhauls the look and feel of the three-year-old learning platform, giving users access to the most relevant content with ease. 

Céline Merle-Béral, Global Chief Human Resources Officer of Havas Media Group and Havas Creative Network, shares what’s new at Havas University, the importance of investing in your talent, and what she’d say to those who think they’re too busy to take a course. 

Tell us a little about the history of Havas University. What is its mission, and how did it get started?

Havas University is Havas Group’s custom-made learning solution that puts leading experts and content at the fingertips of our 20,000 Havas employees around the world. It is part of Havas’ commitment to our people, their personal development, and our common future.

We created this platform in 2016 and have granted over 100,000 certifications in a wide range of topics, from compliance policies to programmatic buying. Today, we offer around 50 global and local courses. The platform is available in three languages—English, French, and Spanish—and some courses are available in several languages.

Since the integration of Havas Group within Vivendi, Havas University has also been chosen by Vivendi as their online learning solution, and they have deployed our platform and course offerings to all the Vivendi entities. Lastly, our flagship courses are now on sale for clients.

How does Havas University fit into Havas Group’s larger talent strategy to evolve talent programs and initiatives that enable Havas to be the most meaningful place to work?

At Havas, our people are our most valuable asset, and one of the ways to make a meaningful difference to our people is by providing them with the most relevant content for them to grow. The more our people are learning and growing, the better they feel at work, the better they serve our clients and our business—it’s a win-win relationship.

We believe this is a central piece to be a great place to work. Our ambition is to gather the expertise and many skills from every corner of the group and share them across our network via high-value training courses—to educate, inspire, and support the development of our people. Havas University accompanies all our employees in their career growth, enhances our personal and professional futures, and promotes a common culture at Havas, based on knowledge sharing and meaningful learning experiences.

Tell us a little about what prompted the redesign and how it improves on the previous build? What new features can we expect?

The redesigned platform is the result of a smart collaboration between Havas University, FullSix, HR, IT, and communication teams across several countries. I would like to warmly thank all the teams that have worked on the project; it’s been a great team effort. Our main objective was to improve the user experience and offer the following benefits to our people:

  •     a better-looking interface and user-friendly features
  •     easier access through improved search
  •     smart recommendations
  •     an extended course catalog

You will still find our 100% homemade courses created by our very own Havas experts, but we’ll also add more training courses from third-party partners, including Google and Facebook.

We also wanted to make Havas University a more sellable solution to clients and prospects.

What kinds of courses/topics will be available and across what categories? Will the courses be available to anyone at Havas?

Havas University is open to every Havas employee. Whether you want to boost your career, take on a new role, refresh your knowledge, expand your skills, or simply learn something new, the idea is to ensure there’s always a course for anyone, no matter what seniority and hierarchy level you are, and across all business units and countries.

Our course catalog addresses several topics, from soft skills to compliance, to industry-related content. We propose great global content organized around flagship courses and mandatory training, but also more and more local programs designed by and for each country.

As a side note, please know that Havas University is still young, so the platform will evolve and improve over the coming months. All users have the possibility to create their own course if they don’t find the training they need or if they have a great idea. The Havas University team is always happy to help with course creation and development.

What would you say to someone who would love to take a course at Havas University but claims that they don’t have the time?

Just like starting a new fitness program, one of the keys to succeed is setting objectives and committing to them.

Our short formats and “snackable” modules are designed so users can complete the courses at their own pace and learn as much as they can on the go. And by combining interactive exercises, videos, and quizzes, we want them to have fun!

So, to the ones who claim that they don’t have time to take a course at Havas University, I would tell them: “Don’t hesitate to drop by and visit us at www.havasuniversity.com!”

What one course would you recommend for a creative? A media buyer? A strategist? A legal counsel?

Since the new version of Havas University is connected to TalentSpace, you will receive smart course recommendations based on your job information and personal interests. So we encourage you to complete your career profile in TalentSpace.

In addition to our existing courses, we have a lot of training courses in the pipeline, so expect more content to be released soon.

Some courses, such as Understanding Mx, are strongly recommended for the media population, including media buyers. Other courses allow us to extend our perspective to some topics that are not directly linked to our job, so perhaps the 100% Smart Data course could be a good choice for a strategist. We also have a lot of specific content on information security, compliance, and regulation that’s perfect for legal and IT professionals.

Most of our courses were traditionally oriented to the media networks, but we are now creating more courses that target creatives. You can expect our MBi course to go live in the near future, and more content on soft skills that will be super useful for everybody.
