Cannes 2018: Spotlight on LATAM

Havas Global Comms

Havas Global Comms

June 5, 2018

Jorge Oller, Chairman of Havas Tribu, looks at some of the best work from Latin America.

Cannes is less than two weeks away. To gear up for advertising’s premier creative festival, we’ve asked our Global Creative Council to share our best work from each region. During the past few weeks we’ve spotlighted APAC, and Europe and France. This week, Jorge Oller, Chairman of Havas Tribu, shares the best work from LATAM.

Deforested Bones

Havas Colombia

Artistry and craftsmanship have merged with a meaningful and unexpected idea. With attention to every detail, “Huesos Deforestados,” as they would say in Colombia, “es una berraquera,” meaning it’s brave, outstanding, and daring. See, without trees the ecosystem will not be suitable for life, affecting already endangered species. Our team in Colombia has connected the dots with a winner.

The Equality Bill

Havas Argentina

Wait a minute. Get me the bill with Evita’s face on it! It’s worth 27 pesos more than the other bill with a man’s face. Unfair? Of course. And here’s the real deal—From Buenos Aires, we have a case making gender inequality a tangible matter, not just a concept or a cause, but a true and hard reality to live by one bill at a time. Brilliant.

Dissolving Poster

They work as silent partners. They’ve done it for ages, sending a message, advertising an event, or promoting a candidate. However, wall posters have never before prevented diseases by actively transforming themselves into a deadly trap for mosquitoes before they hatch. Muy bueno.

Los Gritones

BETC/Havas

“To fall in love you need a pulse. To stay in love you need a plan.” Yes, improvisation didn’t work very well here, yet this is a simple piece of genius within the glory of an old-fashioned film spot. Casting, acting, and a perfect story with not much of a happy ending, LOL, made this great work from Brazil one of my favorites. Scream: Aaaaaaaaaah…

Airbeernb

Havas Argentina

I feel like throwing a party! Just like much of the work from all over Latin America, this project required a lot of effort and faith to make it happen. If you have a great idea like this one, passion will do, a word compounded by love and madness. So, no worries, ché, enjoy. Let’s have a fiesta!
