“We all share the same values—adaptability, flexibility, and teamwork—and are continuously learning to face our challenges, no matter where we are.”

"I should keep doing what I love—creating work that touches the hearts of people."

This summer, five Havas employees from APAC and LATAM had the opportunity to travel, work, and learn at one of Havas’ flagship villages.

Xplore, the one-week immersion program, is an extension of Havas Lofts, and provides participants with the unique opportunity to learn how our global villages operate, discovering different ways of working and networking with their global colleagues and leadership

The five “Xplorers” from the inaugural class came from Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Peru, and Cambodia, and were paired with partners and host teams in London, New York, and Paris.

We chatted with a few of them about their experiences and what they brought back to their offices—aside from souvenirs, of course.

Dannith Oung, Managing Director @ Havas Champagne (Phnom Penh, Cambodia)

Host Agency: BETC Paris

Partner: Clément Boisseau (Managing Director)

What was your biggest takeaway from your Xplore Havas experience?

The Xplore Havas experience reminded me why I am in advertising in the first place. I remember when I was young, I would walk to school and my favorite game was to take note of every single message on billboards and make up songs to go with them. I later realized that this is a job and it could be fun.

With Xplore, I was fortunate enough to be in Paris at BETC during a few special occasions: Cannes Lions, the start of the World Cup, and Father’s Day.

I could feel the energy in the streets of Paris boosted by the advertising messages. When I listened to the head of creative at BETC talk about making a big film that inspires people and makes them feel good, it really made me feel that I am in the right place. I should keep doing what I love—creating work that touches the hearts of people.

What are you bringing back home with you in terms of insights and learnings from your host agency?

BETC created a global strategic and creative hub based in Paris, This achievement gave me a lot of hope for creating quality work in the area of Phnom-Penh. What I like about BETC is their obsession for quality, creativity, and people. Their work is very well crafted, their creativity has a meaningful touch, and “people” are at the heart of what they do. They understand the importance of strategy and they don’t consider their target audience as “consumers who buy product” but as “people who feel and love.”

What was your biggest takeaway from your Xplore Havas experience?

It was interesting to see how we all share the same values—adaptability, flexibility, and teamwork—and continuously learning to face our challenges, no matter where we are.

Daniela López, Account Director @ Havas Chile

Host Agency: Havas New York

Partner: Jizelle Andrews (Senior Account Director)

What was your biggest takeaway from your Xplore Havas experience?

The most impressive thing was to see the size of the host office, not only in the physical sense, but also how it’s organized. The diversity and number of people working on a project exceeds what exists in our reality. Also impressive was the level of sophistication of the different areas, such as Studio6, Lab Experience, Havas X, and Arcadia.

Did you have a favorite experience while visiting your host agency?

I loved the importance of teamwork in the company, which can be seen in each of the agency’s meeting spaces, from rooms to lounges to open areas. I also loved the working methodologies based on reviewers joining together to use “large cartons” where everyone contributed and to ordering and reordering a presentation or a design, using Post-its, etc. And what really caught my attention is that you get to go to work with your dog!
