“Colour outside the lines” and create a different picture always, is Susan Josi’s life mantra, whether it is managing business or addressing client briefs, this philosophy reflects in everything she does.

At a time when brand managers were writing their own copy and visualizing layouts, almost 25 years ago in 1994, Susan moved out of her comfort zone to co-found a healthcare communication agency, which was a pioneering move at that time in India.

Sorento Healthcare Communications was born out of that passion for creating some meaningful brands in the health and wellness domain, now an integral part of the  Havas Group, and rebranded as Havas Life Sorento. Currently, Susan is Managing Partner at Havas Life Sorento and one of the top women leaders in the healthcare industry.

Susan, with a double postgraduate in Pharmacy (UDCT) and Management, has more than 35 years of experience in the health & wellness domain. She is a strong driving force behind Havas Life Sorento’s rapid growth & success. Havas Life Sorento’s current portfolio is a strong and complementary mix of international clients such as Abbott, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, Merck, Mylan, MSD, along with local pharmaceuticals including Cipla, Alkem and Glenmark. It is also one of the most awarded agencies having won globally at Cannes, Clio Healthcare, Global Award, Rx Club Award and Abbys (Goa Fest) India.

In an industry like healthcare, where the concept of advertising is hard to sell, Susan’s vision led by creativity and innovation has made Havas Life Sorento a trendsetter, making it one of the largest multi-channel healthcare communication agency.

It is Susan’s strong determination to provide meaningful healthcare solutions & have a positive impact on the world that made her move up the corporate ladder in a largely male-dominated industry. Today, she leads a team of health-and-wellness comms professionals.

She has won the best woman entrepreneur award from the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce in India. She was also awarded as the Distinguished Entrepreneur 2015, by her alma mater, Institute of Chemical Technology. She was a United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) scholar from India at the University of Ghent – Belgium. Prior to Sorento, Susan was the Executive Director of Ogilvy Healthcare (a division of Ogilvy and Mather).

An avid organic farmer, a TEDx speaker and with special interests in Pharma, Consumer Healthcare and Social Marketing, Susan is multi-faceted and has facilitated many in-house workshops and conferences in India and globally.
